The phrase “one another” is one of the most important in all of Scripture, and it is absolutely foundational to our church and faith family.
In the Bible, the expression “one another” appears roughly 100 times. It also is at the heart of our mission statement: “By the grace of Jesus Christ, reconciling people to God and to one another.”
Such repetition and inclusion serve to underscore and highlight just how important it is for us to come together, to strive to better understand each other, and to always do all we can to support one another.
On this point, Paul is absolutely unequivocal in our focus passage this week, Galatians 5:13-16:
13 You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. 14 For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” 15 If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other. 16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
